Saying "Yes" to forever in the Scottish Highlands

Erica and Tobiach, a couple hailing from Canada, recently chose Glencoe as the place where Tobiach would pop the question. On a rainy December afternoon, they asked me to capture this special moment. While some might have been hesitant about the weather, I knew that the dark, moody atmosphere would create beautiful and unique photos.

Embracing the Rain for Stunning Glen Coe Photos

We began the photo session at around 2 PM, two hours before sunset, and made the most of our time by planning out our locations in advance. We started off by taking some photos near a white house with a breathtaking view of the Scottish Highlands. The light rain and snow-capped mountains added to the dark, atmospheric look we were going for.

Discovering Glen Etive: A Hidden Gem for Engagement Photography

Next, we headed to Glen Etive, a place that is famous for its views and its appearance in the James Bond film, Skyfall. Even though we didn't spot any of the wild deer that are known to roam the area, the Scottish landscapes were nothing short of stunning. We stopped frequently to take photos, including in a spot that was so green it didn't even look like Scotland!

As the days in December are short, the sun set quickly and we were all soaking wet by the end of the shoot. But it was worth it for the final shot, where Erica and Tobiach sat in front of their car in the pouring rain. The light from the car provided a beautiful backlight for the photo.
